We’ve reached the end of our rewatch and eagerly await A Year in the Life, but we wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for this wonderful show and to those who have accompanied us on our journey back through it.

I came to Gilmore Girls after its conclusion, so naturally binge watching the entire thing was a priority. I’ve now seen every episode multiple times (although I skip over quite a bit of “Here Comes the Son”) and definitely have favorite moments for which I’m thankful.

Top 10 Gilmore Girls Moments Lisa is Thankful For

10. Sweet, romantic Max eventually had his walking papers served to him but not before his epic, way more than 1000 yellow daisies proposal of marriage. It was a pity that the proposal took place over the phone, but the beautiful sea of yellow flowers is an unforgettable capper to season one.

9. Massive angerball Jess comes to town and antagonizes its citizenry, including Uncle Luke. The most perfect moment of come comeuppance ensues.

8. Dean and Rory broke up the first time for silly reasons (Dean, darling, just because you say I love you does not mean that the other person has to say I love you back). Their reunion, however was sweet and delicious especially when played out in front of Tristan who was being a giant pain in Rory’s tuchus.

7. Quirky Stars Hollow events that get all the townies involved were always the most fun episodes and none more so than the dance marathon.

6. Season seven didn’t get everything right, but it sure gave Rory an epic send-off. It hits just the right note of town quirkiness, Luke letting his actions speak for him and the incredible love they all have for those Gilmore Girls.

5. Following their first kiss, Luke takes Lorelai on a date and lays his cards on the table in a moment that reveals how much he cares for her and how long he’s felt that way. Of course, we knew that already, but dang, those butterflies were busy in my stomach that night.

4. Even the closest of families have to air their grievances out now and again to maintain a healthy relationship. The Gilmores are not the closest of families, but this Friday night blow up was inevitable on so many levels and so much fun to watch.

3.  Rory’s first graduation (from Chilton) was the best. Heartfelt words to her grandparents during her valedictory speech brought Richard and Emily to proud tears, but it was her message to Lorelai that had me reaching for the tissues.

2. Rory may have her history of boyfriends and divisive fans arguing over which was better for her, but there is clearly no better match for her mother than a grumpy, plaid shirt-wearing diner owner. Luke Danes, we love you. And I love, love love this moment where he and Lorelai share their first kiss.firstkiss

1. Much more so than romance, this show was about family. The best parts were always about the unique and beautiful bond between mother and daughter. It broke our hearts when Lorelai and Rory spent so many months not talking to one another after Rory’s bad decision to drop out of Yale. The moment of their reunion was a long time coming and the sweetest, most redemptive moment of all.
